I was looking for a cheap place to stay in Essen and was pleasantly surprised. My room was in the annex, a building that’s clearly aged, yet the room itself was clean, the bathroom met modern standards, and the bed was comfortable. On top of that, the breakfast buffet was good—way more than I had expected!

The location is very central, but the shower was moldy and would overflow at five drops, the noise from the pedestrian zone was loud, and the basic amenities are just enough if you only need a place to sleep and nothing more.
