“Lovely country location in quality accomodation.”
The location is lovely, the accommodation is large and spacious with a very comfortable bed, the restaurant serves top‑quality food, and the staff are friendly.
“We loved it & will go back.”
The room was spotless, spacious, and the en‑suite was comfortable, with everything we needed supplied. The setting is beautiful, just 10 minutes from Hexham town, and I couldn’t fault it. The only downside was that the train line at the back of the property, mentioned in other reviews, was only audible when sitting outside; it didn’t disturb us inside.
“Everything was great apart from the WiFi connection”
The location and quality of the rooms were very good. However, the Wi‑Fi had been switched off and the plug removed from the socket. We only discovered this the next day when we plugged it back in and turned the modem on again.
“Disappointed everything closed don’t stay on a Monday and Tuesday”
I booked last minute on a no‑refund basis and was let down when the pub was closed on Monday and Tuesday, forcing us to drive to Hexham for food. No breakfast was offered because the pub was shut, and I would not have stayed if I’d known this beforehand. The room was nice, but that was it – nothing else. I felt tricked, and there was no staff to greet us or address our concerns, even though the advert didn’t mention this.
“A Gem of an Inn”
The spot is perfect for exploring the Roman forts and Hadrian’s Wall. The rooms were clean and the beds comfy, and the kitchen was well equipped. There was plenty of drawer and wardrobe space in the bedrooms. Breakfast was good for guests staying, except on Mondays, and the evening meals were delicious.
