“Not up to western expectations but very lovely and helpful owners”

The owners were lovely and helpful, even driving us to the ski gondola, and nothing was far from us, but the pillows were awful, there wasn’t enough space for a family of four, and there was no kettle access; I was surprised by the limited facilities for the cost.

“Dejligt klassisk japansk gæstehus med eget bad (onsen).”

A charming, nicely kept Japanese‑style hotel with futons on the floor and a shared onsen. The hosts were genuinely helpful and welcoming, and even though they only spoke Japanese, they weren’t afraid to use a translator and took the time to assist us. It’s close to the town, the bus stop, and within a reasonable distance of the ski lift and restaurants. The downside is that you’ll have to share the toilet and bathroom with other guests.

“Great local-style hotel”

The hosts were a great, friendly older local couple who walked us through the village, offered discounts on gear and lift tickets, and even drove us up to the slopes every morning. If you’re not a fan of sleeping on futons, this place isn’t for you.

We had a fantastic stay! The spot is right next to the Shinden Bus Stop, which is super convenient. The hosts are a lovely couple—very friendly and energetic! The drying room works perfectly, and there’s a coin laundry nearby if you need it. I’d definitely love to stay here again next time. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality!

“Amazing”

I adore our host. They were so sweet and gave us apples, choco pies, and tea. One day they brought local sake, which was delicious. Our room was super clean and they provided fresh towels and linen every 3 days. The onsen was really nice and the ski bus stop was only 2 minutes away on foot. Nagasaka gondy is only 10 minutes away on foot. I’ll say this lodge is a jewel in Nozawa.
