Shiga Grand Hotel

“Overall, what I liked far outweighed what I didn’t, and it’s still a great hotel.”

The location of Shiga Grand Hotel is fantastic, right in front of the Ichinose ski area and a short walk to the lifts, and the staff were supportive and friendly; having breakfast and dinner included made our ski days a lot easier. The only drawback was my partner’s mattress, which was quite uncomfortable; we didn’t bring it up at reception because we were exhausted after skiing and snowboarding, but given the price we paid, we expected a bit more comfort.

“Overall a great stay”

My stay here was a mixed bag - I loved the awesome onsen and the room was a decent size, plus the staff were incredibly helpful and the location was perfect for skiing and boarding. However, I did find the beds to be a bit on the hard side, although the covers were warm and cozy. The food was plentiful, but not exactly healthy, with lots of fried options, although there were some healthier choices like soup and salad available at meals.

I had a great experience at this hotel, thanks to the super friendly and helpful staff who went out of their way to assist me with getting my snowboarding gear and navigating the area. They were especially patient with me given the language barrier, and I appreciated their kindness and patience. Overall, the service was top-notch and I would definitely consider staying here again.

While the staff at this hotel were extremely friendly and helpful, I was a bit disappointed by the state of the property, which felt very dated and rundown. Given the high prices, I expected a bit more in terms of amenities and overall condition. However, the staff's warm welcome and helpfulness made up for some of the hotel's shortcomings.

“Good view of the slopes”

I had an amazing stay at this hotel, thanks to the incredible warmth and hospitality of the host, Aki, who made me feel right at home. The room was clean and comfortable, and the food - both breakfast and dinner - was absolutely delicious, with a great selection of options. My only minor quibble was that the bathroom was a bit on the small side, but overall, I would highly recommend this hotel and can't wait to come back.
