We adored every detail of this property, a modern touch inside a traditional Japanese building; breakfasts were plentiful and fantastic, beds super comfy, AC a lifesaver, daily tea and snacks in the afternoon, plus a comfy kimono to wear; Tome was endlessly helpful, offering top recommendations for sights, meals, and activities; highly recommend this ryokan.

Everything about this place and the owners, Tome‑San and her husband, was wonderful; they were very kind hosts, and right after we arrived they escorted us to the cozy bar for a complimentary drink—sparkling sake for me; the old building has so much character; the Japanese breakfast Tome‑San prepared was delicious and lovingly made; a perfect, characterful spot to stay if you’re in Kyoto; nothing to dislike.

We enjoyed our stay from start to finish, loving every little detail; as soon as we walked in, Tome, our host, greeted us warmly; our room was clean, spacious, and had lovely amenities; Tome and her husband served a beautifully presented breakfast each morning, clearly made with love, and she spent time each day helping guests plan their day and securing reservations at local restaurants; Tome shared local tips and hidden gems, making our trip even more enjoyable; she’s the sweetest, kindest host who lights up the room and loves what she does, making you feel welcomed and cared for; we would highly recommend! The only wish was to stay longer.

Where do I even begin! Tome was an outstanding host—she did everything for us, from recommending restaurants and booking tables to writing out menus for a place with no English; she also suggested rainy‑day spots; she was so kind, welcoming, and helpful; the room was lovely with a view of Tome’s charming courtyard garden, futons were very comfortable, and it was quiet and peaceful—a perfect haven; breakfasts were a real treat; the best surprise was Tome’s hobby bar that she opened some evenings for a pre‑dinner drink; thank you, Tome, for all your help—you truly made our Kyoto visit unforgettable; nothing to complain about.
