Ryujin Onsen Marui Ryokan

We stayed here for our honeymoon, and the staff were amazing. They even created a vegan menu for us, one of the best we’ve had in all of Japan, and the service was outstanding. The onsen was really cool, not crowded, and had nice views. The owner drove us to the bus station 20–30 minutes away because there were no taxis early in the morning, and they also made a vegan bento for us since we were leaving early and couldn’t have the usual breakfast. We’re so grateful and had such a good time; we’ll definitely come back! Arigatou Gosaimasu!

The ryokan is situated in a pretty little village that’s a good base for exploring the surrounding area. The owners and staff were all very warm and welcoming, and the breakfast and dinner were simply delicious. We especially enjoyed the local amago trout, which we had once for breakfast and once grilled for dinner. The room was very cozy and we slept soundly. The onsen was also special and left our skin silky‑soft. The tunnel to the onsen and the riverside location gave it a unique atmosphere. The only downside was that we only stayed for two nights; we would have liked to stay longer.

“温泉を楽しみながらまったり過ごせます”

The staff were very kind, and although the onsen isn’t huge, the water quality is excellent, letting us relax away from the noise. The dinner was generally satisfying, but I would have liked it to be a bit more substantial.

There were no particular positives to mention. The price was too high for the facilities, and the food was bland and not very tasty.

The ryokan’s hospitality, onsen, and food were all wonderful. I definitely want to use this place again.
