The place sits in a fantastic spot, with easy links to every corner of London. It felt snug, and we felt secure thanks to the two locks on the entrance. The host was wonderful, replying fast and meeting all our requests. I just wish the cleaners had given the rooms a bit more attention.

We could cook our own meals using the 10th‑century pots, pans, toaster, and the like. However, the room had no TV, the building was under renovation (we learned only hours before arrival), walls were cracking, the house looked old, poorly kept, and dirty. The bed was so unstable that each time someone sat on the edge it felt like we might fall. Later guests—or possibly the owner’s relatives—were loud, left the main and toilet doors open whenever they left, and overall I think this house shouldn’t have been listed.
