Because it was a work trip, we arrived too early to take advantage of the breakfast service, but the staff were very accommodating and made sure there was plenty on offer, as a self‑service.

previous reviews raved about the breakfast. I found it at best satisfactory. There is no restaurant at this location. Breakfast is served in a scruffy space, which also serves as the drying area for laundry. In the self service area items, such as soft fruits, were slapped on the table in the original packaging from the local supermarket. A fellow diner inquired about what kinds of coffee were served. 'Instant' was the response, as if the question itself had been ridiculous. After our first experience we went elsewhere outside the pub for our breakfast. If you are serving an ordinary cooked full English in very basic surroundings, an honest provider would not use the term 'excellent'! The 'Hotel' is rooms above a very ordinary high street pub. Why pretend to be something else? As much attention was paid to the gentlemen in the bar who were tucking into their pints at 8.45am in the morning. The room was clean but small without anywhere to sit except the bed. The TV was purely an ornament unless you were willing to tune it into your own domestic account. The landlady's response to TV problems was that she hoped it would improve when she got an outside aerial. Reception in the bar, serviced by two large external satellite dishes was [of course] impeccable. We paid £140 per night for a 3 night stay. The overall standard would indicate that £60 per night would be the rate for comparable accommodation

Everyone was very helpful, the breakfasts were brilliant, and they were perfectly cooked even with 10–12 people turning up together. The place is quaint and comfortable.

The location on the high street is great, close to local shops, and the breakfast—both cooked and continental—is fabulous. It’s near the beach and easy to reach other local spots. Nothing to complain about.

The spot was great, the room was clean and fully equipped, and the breakfast was made to order and tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful, though the folding bathroom door could use some TLC.
