Breakfast was very filling, we didn’t know what to eat next. The setting was pleasant, just a short walk from Saint Pardoux Lake, and there’s a trail that leads to a quieter spot on the lake for adventurous folks. We booked a night as part of a Terra Aventura trek that passes right by, which is great once the quest is over—stop at La Verdine to relax in peace. Farm animals are around, which is a nice experience for the kids. The stay felt too short to discover everything we’d liked less.

“Hidden Gem”

Saint-Pardoux is a world‑class leisure resort with superb trails and bike paths around the lake, and the lake itself offers abundant watersports plus a great indoor pool; most large inclusive holiday villages in the UK and Northern Europe can’t match what’s here except for accommodation—most places use campsites and motorhomes, so I was lucky to find Roulotte La Vert‑Dîne, a beautiful gypsy caravan in a farm setting that’s fully equipped except for the horse needed to tow it; it’s not on the lake shore but only a two‑minute forest walk to a shallow sandy beach; Patrick and Claire are attentive yet not intrusive, and can deliver home‑cooked, wholesome local food straight to the caravan if ordered ahead; note that access to the caravan and bed is via steep steps, which might be an issue for some, the shower is fantastic with instant hot water, and the toilet is slow but adequate.
