The reception was friendly and willing to wait to see if you wanted to dine there, and they were generous with breakfast for other guests, but the castle tavern closed at 20:30 h, leaving us no option but to go back to our room, the room’s décor was very plain, despite the promise you couldn’t see the river or old town from the room, and the bathroom was very cramped.

“Excellent.”

I stayed in a castle and didn’t break the bank; the staff were charming, professional, and helpful, and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Free parking was available in the courtyard, and the standard room’s bathroom was small, though a larger suite is available for an extra fee. The bedroom window offered stunning views, and while I didn’t spot a ghost, that’s not guaranteed. I’d recommend taking the guided tour.

The hotel is in one of the castle complex buildings, parking is available on the adjacent square, and there is a restaurant; the breakfast was too simple, and we had to climb two flights of stairs with luggage to reach our room.

“A unique experience”

The fortress was impressive and huge, with a separate parking lot from the main visitor area and an on‑site restaurant. Breakfast was very good and personalized, thank you. The building is old and only has stairs, so it’s not suitable for seniors or those with limited mobility. The front desk is located by the restaurant, which confused us until we found the actual hotel entrance and parking spot; clearer signage would help.
