Very remote location which is what we were looking for. Rooms were very clean, spacious and nicely decorated. More of a personal preference, but we found it quite bizarre to not have any staff on-site. The first day we were only people in the entire building, then the next it was with a variety of guests

I’ve stayed here before, and the rooms are all beautiful. On both occasions, I have struggled to get a meal. One time it was my own fault because I didn’t realise they don’t serve food every night. On the second occasion they had stopped serving food early because of a problem with gas. I understand these things happen, however they could’ve offered something cold. Service at the bar was extremely slow also

The room was well appointed and clean. The beds were very comfortable. Good hot shower. Last minute booking for a funeral. It is not clear at all site that the Old Mill is actually closed Monday/Tuesday so didn't realise there was no restaurant, bar, anything during our stay until after we'd booked. To be fair owners emailed this information and Maryport is very near so we were able to get an evening meal/breakfast. However we were literally the only people in the building, no other guests, no staff, nobody which we found most disconcerting. Not conducive to a good night's sleep
