The location was the only good thing; the bathroom was always flooded, the sewage system was a mess, and the staff said one thing but did another.
The smell was terrible, there was no refrigerator, the noise was awful all night, and everything else was bad.
“Front door open 24/7. Tiles falling off tiles from toilet. Inexplicable rancid smell”
The place is in a decent spot, but the staff situation is awful. Nobody was available, and the main door stayed open 24/7, making me feel unsafe. The restaurant workers downstairs who handled key check‑in were rude and made me feel degraded; they even laughed when I pointed out that the air‑conditioning was blowing in the wrong direction. I was forced to leave the room because it wasn’t a double bed but two single beds pushed together on an old mattress, with semen stains on the blanket. The toilet had long hairs stuck to the door and a chemical spray smell that made me think of dead seafood. I raised these problems again, but the waitress at Bistro 49 ignored me, only helping white travelers. I almost tried the Bistro’s food, but feared the same poor service. I warned my bus‑tour friends, ferry passengers, and many American cyclists to avoid Bistro 49. If you’re a person of color and expect to be humiliated for asking for basic decency, comfort, hygiene, and respect, this is the place for you.
“Ok”
The price and proximity to the port were great, but the shower was tricky to use.
“Stützpunkt beim Busbahnhof.”
The accommodation was simple but nice, located next to the bus station with good connections into the old town, but traffic noise outside the window was a problem.
