The place is very clean and well‑equipped. It is a bit off‑the‑beaten‑path, but that was explained when booking.

The staff were friendly and professional. They arranged transport to catch trains and to return from the nearest station to the hotel. The room was about 65 sqm. However, the rooms were not tidied daily and the beds were left unattended. Fresh linens were supplied each day, but used towels were not removed. Paying for this accommodation, you expect better service. The hotel was listed as an Onsen, yet it only had a spa bath; we were told each room has a private Onsen bath, so they paid for us to use the public Onsen across the road. The evening meals were excellent, but breakfast was very Japanese—salads, pickles, fish, etc.—which might not suit most Western diets.

Fantastic accommodation, the staff were extremely attentive, and the cuisine was refined. The shuttle covering the 2.5 km between the station and the hotel is appreciated. Overall, a great stay. The only drawback was that when I booked, I thought the hotel was on Miyajima Island; the name and its listing on Booking can be misleading, because the property is actually on the mainland opposite the island.

This was the biggest and best room we ever stayed in Japan, and it was amazing! Each room has a private onsen, the sea view is beautiful, and free coffee is offered in the morning. It’s basically a place to reset yourself. We had an option that included dinner and breakfast; even though we didn’t like all the meals served, it was definitely an Omakase experience we wanted to try at least once in Japan. The location is a bit farther from the pier to Miyajima than I expected. I knew the property was on the mainland and, even though we had transportation from the station to the hotel, there was an extra train stop needed to reach the boat for Miyajima. It’s not too bad, just worth mentioning.

The staff were great, yet the location was not ideal.
