The spot is close enough to the centre that you can walk in. The room is lovely and just across from the canteen/lounge area. Using the app to get into your room/hotel means no key or card is needed. The air conditioning works well. The shower area could use a better extractor.

The room was well appointed and spacious. We stayed in the Versailles on the main floor. It was quiet, even though the guest house is on a busy street. The shower was great and the bed comfortable. Proximity to the centre of York is great—just a 25‑30 minute walk, with bus links if you need them. Glad we had on‑site parking. There’s also a kitchen with a sitting area so you can enjoy your meals there if you want. We were happy to warm up the scones we bought in town and eat them on a plate! The parking is a little tight to get in and out of, but we appreciated having it anyway. I’m not a big fan of contactless check‑in with no one to greet you; maybe that’s due to our age group (seniors), but all in all it went well.

The location and price were good, but it was strange having no staff to speak to and no food facility in operation whatsoever. There were some minor maintenance issues, but otherwise it was a lovely stay, thank you. The walk into the city was long for us old people, and there weren’t many amenities within easy walking distance.

The room was lovely and comfortable, with a lovely shower. We found the breakfast arrangements disappointing and the location a little far from the centre of York.

The guest house was further out of the city than I had hoped, although my main reason for choosing this location was parking, but circumstances meant I couldn’t drive. The decor was very interesting and the iPad was easy to use to control the air conditioning.
