Hotel Asafuji

The place is truly stunning, and I was especially grateful that they prepared extra vegetarian dinner and breakfast for me. The rooms look gorgeous, and every time I went to the onsen it was empty, letting me soak in peace. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the indoor clothes they supplied were very comfortable. The shuttle service was easy and convenient. They set up the futon while I went to dinner and took it away during the day, which meant I couldn’t nap in the afternoon (haha). Nothing else to complain about, though it might have been nice to have their own little rental bikes; they did offer to drive me to a bike‑rental place instead.

The hot springs offered a view of Mt. Fuji, which was beautiful, and the staff were very kind. It would have been better if breakfast included Western options.

“Simply exceptional”

Everything was outstanding. The staff were friendly, helpful, and spoke good English, answering any questions and inquiries. They offered a free Udon tasting trial and a Yukata trial wear so guests could experience Japanese traditions. The room matched its description: an old‑style Japanese room with modern amenities, electricity, air conditioning, and an old‑style bathroom that still felt modern. The Ryokan itself was excellent; the view from the 4th floor was superb and the opening hours were long enough that you didn’t feel rushed. They also provided instructions for those unfamiliar with Ryokan rules. We only had breakfast, so I can’t comment on dinner, but the breakfast was good, traditional Japanese cuisine, plentiful, and left us full until the evening. I can’t think of anything negative, though a few breakfast items were served chilled, which was a bit odd but not bad.

“Great for couples and friends in a beautiful town.”

The staff was so nice since we arrived late, they still allowed us to have the dinner and it was amazing. The breakfast was really good too. The onsen was relaxing and the views of the lake were fantastic. The staff was so kind. Was worried about the traditional bed, but it was really comfortable. I was able to walk around the lake to oishi park and see the sunrise. The room temp was perfect and of course the amazing Japanese toilets. Amazing experience. There was a pillow with like hard beads in it which was uncomfortable, but I wish I realized there were more pillows in the closet
