“bamboozled eye opening , to what people believe is a decent standard and any way to live.”
I paid for privacy, yet the microwave was the only thing that mattered, and the shower was decent.
The place was a nightmare because drug users outside made it noisy, the front door kept slamming, and the neighbors in the room next to mine kept leaving and coming back about ten times in six hours without any regard for others; one of them even abused his girlfriend.
When I asked for a plate, a spoon, and a tin opener, they said no, claiming guests don’t return them to the kitchen and left them in the room, which felt judgmental and rude, assuming I was like everyone else, and I was very offended.
Everything was broken: my door was hanging off, the window handle was rusty, the place looked like it hadn’t been maintained, and it wasn’t worth 20 pounds a night.
The bed was rock‑hard, like sleeping on concrete, the shower curtain was mouldy, the bathroom bin was rusty, and the TV bracket left on the wall looked like the TV had been removed and smashed over someone’s head.
