Breakfast was okay, but we could barely get Wi‑Fi. There were cockroaches in the room. When we left, we were told we had to pay for a dirty towel, yet the towel was only wet from the shower. We had already paid for the towel, so it should have been provided to us

“Very poor front desk and administration.”

Once we finally got accepted and were given a room, the room was nice with good air conditioning. The front desk was really annoying at night and the check‑in was extremely slow. We were arriving very late on the ferry into Batangas port on 3rd August – 4th August with three rooms booked. We asked for a late check‑in to be confirmed and it was accepted. We also rang to double‑check this in Tagalog, and again it was fine. We even sent a message over the bookings.com system to triple‑check and again “this is fine sir.” What more could we have possibly done? So when we all arrived, the girl at the front desk stared at me saying her sheets showed NO further arrivals on her handwritten sheets. I then had to painfully prove the booking, prove who I was, and prove that the booking had been paid for on my bank card automatically! Luckily I had a printed copy of the reservation, which only went so far in convincing her that we were not all just a family of scammers. I then showed her my UK online banking transaction, but it only showed as “” and not specifically “Meaco Royal Hotel.” So this didn’t really help to convince the staff member. As the time was now approaching 4am I felt it would be pointless to even check in now as it was nearly daybreak, and we could have just gone directly from the Batangas port to Manila. So I was tempted to say “forget it” and take it up in a complaint with bookings.com to try and get our money back later on. Eventually, after suggesting that maybe the day staff had not written our name on the sheets, she conceded. Finally! Though an apology was never given. However, it then became a lengthy 40‑minute process of filling out forms for all ten of our party to get room keys – ridiculous. Eventually we all got into rooms, extremely tired and annoyed. Never again. Easier to just get transport directly from the ferry to Manila and not pay Meaco Royal for stress. Administration of bookings is very poor and I do NOT recommend this hotel

The staff were obedient and respectful, but the place was clean and organized

I like the place; it’s very quiet and the staff are very friendly and accommodating, but they don’t have many options for food during breakfast
