Everything was great – the owner was incredibly generous, and we made lifelong friendships we hadn’t expected. Nothing else to add.

We stayed in a safari tent tucked under the trees, spacious and with a hearty dinner and decent breakfast. The shared bathrooms were single ensuites, giving us the whole room; they varied in quality but were all clean. Staff were friendly. The blow‑up beds in the tents were cold without a mat or something underneath, so we turned the provided quilts into makeshift sleeping bags to keep warm. Walking back and forth over the grass to the bathrooms could be muddy, and Wi‑Fi only worked in the main area.

The view was lovely, but breakfast was missing even though it was listed as included, and the staff were invisible, never showing up or putting up the phone. I waited for hours before giving up and leaving. We were also told by a friendly but unhelpful staff member that campfires and barbecues were not allowed, despite the website stating otherwise, which was misleading because we had brought a camping stove, cups, fire log and food after hiking up a hill. He mentioned a law forbidding campfires in Scotland from 1 April to 30 September, but that period did not cover our travel dates, so the restriction was incorrect. The misinformation on the site forced us to buy food and spend more than we had budgeted, and the lack of breakfast—despite paying for it in advance—made us colder and less rested.
