We ended up staying at the owner's hostel in Wadi Rum village instead of Camp Khalifa, which was closed due to the war. The owner was really nice and accommodating, but it's a shame the camp is struggling. If you're planning to visit, I'd recommend looking into Wadi Rum Oryx Hostel instead.

The owner was super friendly, which made a big difference considering the low number of tourists due to the Israeli war and the fact that many desert camps were closed. On our first night, they actually booked us in the village instead of the camp, which was a nice surprise, and they even managed to arrange our stay in the desert camp for the remaining two nights. We had a great time exploring the beautiful area and enjoyed the jeep tours we booked.

I'm still grinning from ear to ear thinking about my stay at this desert camp. Ahmed, the host, is a total gem – warm, witty, and ridiculously knowledgeable about the area. He went above and beyond to help me catch the bus to Petra, and his recommendations for food were spot on. The meals themselves were seriously delicious, with both dinner and breakfast being highlights of my trip. The setting, of course, is just stunning – I felt like I was in a real-life desert oasis.
