The monastery sits in a fantastic spot with a fairy‑tale view; we could grill on the terrace while watching the mountains and the little town below. The drive was a bit extreme, a narrow street with sharp turns, but there was no traffic. I’d love to come back.

It’s a wonderful retreat and oasis in the mountains, offering great views and lovely gardens that give plenty of quiet for a personal getaway or just to relax. We didn’t hike, but it’s a great base for day trips. The breakfast was delicious, with homemade preserves and honey. Walking up from the post office station is a bit tiring when the slope is over 30°, so you should mentally prepare for that. Inside the monastery there’s only breakfast, so you’ll need to plan your meals for the rest of the day differently – still, it’s an extraordinary experience.

The view and breakfast were fantastic, and the garden is very pretty. We were shown around the monastery very warmly upon arrival. However, we ended up alone in the monastery far away from anyone else, and we didn’t know that beforehand. The food options are very limited unless you have a car.
