We had booked several rooms with balconies, yet we only received rooms without balconies. The staff were unwilling to offer a price reduction for the lower room category. The hotel does not provide a breakfast service, and the adjacent eatery (I wouldn’t call it a restaurant, and the photo in the hotel’s gallery is very flattering) serves only very simple food. In the area there are better and cleaner restaurants.

We stayed 3 nights (31/8/26 to 3/9/26) at Sri Balaji Grand, Kumbakonam. The location is perfect for traveling and visiting temples around Kumbakonam. The rooms are large, spacious, and clean. Service is top class. We had a small AC issue, but the AC mechanic arrived promptly, cleaned the filters, and the cooling was phenomenal. Room service was super fast. The small restaurant attached to the hotel serves good, simple food—we ate there every day for all 3 days. We were very happy to cover around 26 temples, including Thirukaddayur. I already recommended it to friends visiting temples in and around Kumbakonam. Keep up the good service, Ramachandran & Gayatri. Nothing in particular to note.

Breakfast was good, and lunch overall was good but a bit spicy. Nothing else.

The driver’s room was in horrible condition. Even after asking for a basic cleaning, they said it would only happen once a week. The room was full of liquor bottles, smoked cigarettes, and the toilets were very shabby.
