The hotel was lovely, the breakfast brilliant, and the view from our room was beautiful; it’s an ideal base to explore Keswick, just a 5‑minute drive to the town, and the building looks charming; the room was clean but basic, and for the price I’ve stayed in many nicer places for far less.

The hotel and its gardens are gorgeous, the staff are very nice and friendly, and they’ll go out of their way to make sure you have a good stay; the rooms are well presented, the food is lovely, and every meal we had was very nice; nothing to complain about.

The room was lovely, the bar and restaurant were outstanding, and the à‑la‑carte breakfast was excellent; the only issue was the stairs—no lift! We were in a second‑floor room deep in the back, and hauling our luggage up and down several flights was a bit much for our age.

I couldn’t fault our stay. If I had to be picky I would have preferred a better menu, it didn’t change other than a different fish option for our 6 night stay having said that the food we had was excellent
