I accidentally booked the wrong dates, but the host let us stay on the dates we wanted without charging extra. He kept his promise! Oukaimeden is gorgeous, and Rachid was incredibly helpful during our short stay. The Gite was simple but comfortable, and the Wi‑Fi was better than anywhere else we stayed in Morocco this year. Breakfast was good, and Rachid runs a small restaurant a few minutes away where you can enjoy a lovely tagine for dinner.
“Rustic mountain stay”
The location was great for exploring and hiking the Atlas Mountains. We didn’t see any snow in December, and the ski area had been closed for years, but the fresh mountain air was lovely. The included breakfast and requested dinner were tasty and plenty. We also enjoyed a nearby restaurant that was open. The place was very cold; they tried to provide heaters, but I needed multiple layers and blankets almost all the time to stay warm. Hot water for the shower was limited, so we had to use it sparingly to allow others a hot shower. It was definitely a rustic stay.
The surrounding mountains. Great hikes possible. Mountain air. Winter ski area. Very friendly people.
The place was clean. I’m writing to express my disappointment with my stay, which I booked through booking at the gîte Oukaïmeden (with Rachid). First, none of the heaters worked except one old butane stove that smelled of gas on the first night, and the rooms were at -4 °C. Going to the bathroom in the evening felt like freezing. We had to ask several times before getting firewood for the fireplace—there was no shortage of wood, just a lack of supply. Worse, Mr Rachid asked us to bring seven tourists even though we had paid for the entire gîte and suggested we change the arrangement because they were foreigners and more numerous. My wife caught a cold, which is not fair; a place like this should at least have heating. It’s sad, especially since the region is beautiful. I await your response.
The location was tranquil. Thanks to Rachid for his availability.
