The location was convenient for a power outage, but the service was awful: the front desk was unhelpful and unfriendly, and they told me to book online instead of helping me in person. There was no valet or luggage assistance, and after I asked for a roll‑away bed before checking in, they denied it. The first room, despite being non‑smoking, smelled like marijuana and the mattress was hard. Room service was terrible, arriving in a bag like it was the COVID era, and the food was even worse—an old, dry bundt cake with chocolate syrup squirted into the hole, a salad in a box with no dressing, and churros that were just okay. Breakfast the next morning was mediocre, especially when the original pancakes house is just down the street. A young waitress was pleasant, but Aliso has no attractions, is not close to anything, especially the beach, and I’m left wondering how they keep the place open.

It’s a great spot for a healthy‑lifestyle hotel and feels very unique, though more gym classes would be welcome.
