Bluebell Lodge with Hot Tub

The location was very peaceful, the restaurant was nice and reasonably priced. The cabin itself was in a beautiful setting but felt quite old and needed upgrades. On arrival the property required a deep clean, with marks, dirt, and dust visible everywhere. The main bathroom shower was in the bath, which was fixed quickly, and we appreciated that. We booked for six people, yet the dining table comfortably seats only four, and the outdoor seating is also only suitable for four. The crockery and glasses were inconsistent, with a random assortment of different styles. Overall, we enjoyed the stay, but for a property that advertises eight‑person capacity, the facilities and cleanliness could be better. With some updates and more attention to detail, the cabin could be much improved.

We loved the place and will definitely return. It’s comfortable, spacious, homely, and in a great location. I wouldn’t say I disliked anything, but a few things stood out: spillage on the floor and top that wasn’t cleaned properly, not all jets in the hot tub worked, there was no frying pan, and the knives could use sharpening. Also, the leg on the cat ornament was broken and we don’t want to be blamed. Just constructive feedback.

“A little run down”

The spot for visiting York was convenient and the countryside was lovely, but I had to point out several damaged items to the host and staff, and overall it could have been cleaner.

“Expensive older lodge”

We had to book at the last minute after another lodge cancelled, and Bluebell Lodge had everything we needed in a quiet, sunny spot; the lodge itself was spacious, yet it looked very dated and tired, especially the carpets and floors, and it carried a damp, musty smell. Half of the jets in the hot tub didn’t work, the on‑site restaurant was shut on Saturday night for a private event, and the pizza shack never opened during our three nights, making this place much pricier than the one we originally booked.

“Lovely staff, lodge was beautiful”

The location was great, the property stunning, and the rooms comfortable, but there were marks on curtains and walls, floor damage on the bathroom entry, half of the hot‑tub jets were dead, rubbish under the bed, a sofa stain, and a burn on the carpet; I could only attach four photos even though I have more.
