“Im Hotel Ideal war nicht alles ideal”
Location: a bus stop right in front of the hotel with connections to the center. Room: fairly large and quiet despite facing the street. Self‑check‑in: technically everything works. Price: for a last‑minute booking in Lübeck it was quite cheap.
The room had technical problems: the bathroom fan was broken (the bathroom has no window), water from the sink drained too slowly when the stopper was open, the window was jammed and might not seal completely when closed, and the TV couldn’t receive all German channels. There was no shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom, so bringing your own is advisable.
Atmosphere: no personal contact with staff on site, except the housekeeping girl, which felt a bit impersonal, but that’s subjective.
Breakfast: I knew before booking that the hotel no longer offered breakfast, yet there were still photos of a breakfast buffet in the description for the June 2026 booking period, which was somewhat confusing.
CAUTION – FALL RISK (as of 09‑13.06.2026): I’m not sure whether the hotel or the city administration is responsible, but there was a loose drainage channel outside the hotel entrance, posing a tripping and injury hazard (I almost stumbled over it).
