“Overall, I expected it to be better than it was and was disappointed”

The place is great because it sits next to the airport and helipad, and the sunny terrace lets you watch planes land and the sunset; a hot shower after trekking from Namche is a nice touch. Unfortunately the electric blanket didn’t work, the gate was padlocked when I returned for dinner at 5:30 pm, and the shower wasn’t hot in the morning.

The private bathroom had hot water and was only 10‑20 m from the airport, but the rooms were in bad shape, looked dirty, and there was no soap for bathing.

Just steps above Lukla airport, we booked last minute when our flights were cancelled by weather, and once flights resumed we could watch them from our window. The rooms were clean, staff attentive, hot water was a treat after trekking, and heated pads were on the beds. We did smell some diesel exhaust in the room, but it was worth it to see the world’s most dangerous airport from the window.

We stayed one night before our flight back to Kathmandu/Ramechhap; the owner was very helpful, confirming our return flight after a quick message. We mentioned my boyfriend’s birthday at check‑in, and he surprised us with a birthday cake bearing his name during breakfast – delicious food and a beautiful dining hall. At dinner the staff turned on the heating mattresses in our room, so we slept very cozy and warm. Definitely recommend this lodge; thanks for the warm welcome and a great end to our trip.
