The view was the only thing that mattered, but our stay at Manta Lodge was ruined and cut short because of the problems listed below, forcing us to leave halfway through and book another place on the island via Booking. First, the listing never mentioned that the property is extremely isolated and only reachable by a dangerous, slippery, steep 4x4 trail. There is no potable water or hot water at all, and the pressure is nonexistent. The room cannot be locked, and the kitchen bay window and mosquito nets are broken, so there is no security. Flies and mosquitoes are everywhere in the house. The solar lighting means you have to conserve energy to avoid total darkness. The kitchen and equipment are old. The outdoor area is abandoned, and the bridge to the sea is broken halfway. There is no beach. The dogs nearby are friendly but bark at night. Because of all these issues, we are requesting a refund for the last two nights we did not stay at the property.

The view from the accommodation was incredible, the canoes were great for a short paddle, and Tea was exceptionally kind and adaptable. The path to the lodging was not specified, and it was very slippery, causing someone to fall.

The place is super quiet in nature with a beautiful view and has a two‑level terrace. There was no bedding for the second bed in the second bedroom, which we reported upon arrival, but nothing was changed during our two‑night stay. Some equipment (house and vehicle locks) did not work. Access was a bit difficult (car trail then a foot descent to the lodging). In short, the accommodation is pleasant and characterful but does not match its high price, at least in terms of customer service.

It’s a little slice of paradise! If you’re into five‑star hotels, this isn’t for you; it’s more roots. Canoes are available to reach the beach on your left, and you’ll return there several times because that tiny beach is gorgeous with a little Kolanta vibe. The two female dogs are extremely friendly and keep good guard. They will show you the path to the beach on foot (or by canoe). It’s a real tear‑jerker to leave… The only downside is that you need a car to reach the lodging, but the view is so stunning you won’t get tired of it.

“Havre de paix”

We were welcomed with a flower collar at the port, and the terrace view is lovely. The calm is soothing, and kayaks are available. Hana Iti beach is accessible by canoe or on foot, a true haven of peace. The kitchen and equipment are old. The listing does not specify how isolated the accommodation is; some people might be scared at night. The bedroom bay window does not lock. There is no potable water. Access is difficult via a path, and a 4x4 is essential. We were surprised at arrival when the car rental refused to give us the car we had booked for the accommodation, even though they knew about it; all that to make us rent the 4x4 offered by the lodging, which is twice as expensive!
