“Di passaggio per una notte”
The hotel is connected to the Piode Fishermen’s Restaurant, a long‑standing culinary landmark in the valley. The hotel is separate from the main building, located about 30 m away in a renovated four‑storey block with various rooms per floor—some refurbished, others still being restored, like parts of the common areas. Luckily, the floors are reachable by lift and the first floor has a wheelchair‑accessible staircase. Overall the room is welcoming and has a balcony overlooking the river and the village of Piode; from there several forest and meadow trails of varying difficulty start, and there are bars, grocery stores and ATMs nearby. The room is honest, but the double bed has two side‑by‑side frames with two mattresses that, though recent, are rather firm. The bathroom is the best part of the room, but the shower didn’t drain because the filter was clogged and we had to fix it ourselves. There’s a nice wall‑mounted TV, but it’s unusable because it had no channels installed, and as guests we didn’t feel comfortable setting up the two remote controls—one for ViaSat, which didn’t work. A pity.
