The house is superb, right next to the golf club house, spacious, clean, and modern. The bedrooms are huge with plenty of storage, and the gated community feels secure. It’s just a short drive into Stellenbosch, and the on‑site winery offers complimentary wine tastings, which is a nice touch.

The listing says there’s a cleaning fee, but it isn’t included in the price shown on the site; it only appears once you confirm the booking. Adding R 1500 is a hefty extra.

“Great place, we had a lovely stay.”

De Zalze Estate is amazing; we loved the wine tasting and the world‑class golf course. The downside was having to walk a long way around to the pool gate, and no pool towels were available after 13:00 on Saturday.

“A beautiful estate, but housekeeping requires improvement.”

The property sits on a beautiful estate, and we enjoyed strolling around and the complimentary wine tasting at Klein Zalze. The area is quiet and peaceful yet close to central Stellenbosch. The accommodation is comfortable, but housekeeping needs major improvement: towels aren’t changed often, toilet paper runs out and isn’t replaced, and once the staff were in such a rush to leave that they didn’t wash the dishes properly, forcing us to eat dinner on dirty plates. It’s a pity how disappointing the housekeeping was.

I chose this place because of its great location and the promise of an indoor fireplace and coffee pod machine, but neither wood nor pods were provided, and there were no tongs for the coals, forcing me to leave again to find firewood and pods. The staircase is steep and narrow, a detail that should have been mentioned in the listing. The setting is beautiful and quiet, though the lack of advertised amenities was disappointing.
