The old building was nice and tidy, and the smart locks worked well, but the room was small with little storage, the staff were hardly seen, the instructions were in “London slang” even though we were in Finland and speaking Finnish, and heating was only via an air‑conditioner.

The place was self‑contained; we prepared breakfast ourselves from the supplies they provided. The room had a fridge, cups, plates, and a small stove for quick meals. The village had no open restaurant at the time; we would have gone out to eat. A TV would have been a nice addition to the room.

The town is interesting, with places to stroll in the evening, quiet and calm, and the nearby Akka-Koli Hill offers great views. The hotel is spread across several buildings, and you can’t know which one you’ll stay in until you see the photos and address before check‑in. We got a very “spartan” room that felt like a rural Soviet‑era inn.
