“Not a terrible place, but impractical and underwhelming.”
The spot was decent in the city, and the other guests kept it quiet. Two showers, sinks, and restrooms all had AC and hot/cold water. The check‑in felt rushed and was only in Chinese, which I don’t understand; my friends spoke it but the host didn’t try to explain or confirm we got it. I thought I’d paid online when booking, yet the host demanded cash at the front desk—nothing about “cash only” was mentioned before, and the reservation said “cash and card,” so that was stressful. The vibe didn’t match the photos; it looked Japanese and aesthetic but was mostly uncomfortable and impractical. The rooms were tiny—just enough for one bed, no space for luggage, and the beds were cushioned tatami mats with a pad and cover, no futon, which left my back and hips sore. Privacy was impossible; the paper‑thin walls let you see through, and the two showers had no doors to separate them from the main room. Big cameras in every corner made the place feel less homey. I stored my stuff downstairs because the bedrooms had no luggage space, and the next morning a colony of ants had invaded my food.
