WoodSpring Suites Yorktown Newport News

The hotel was overbooked and our reservation was moved to a Red Roof Inn, which was in terrible condition.

“clean room near Yorktown attractions”

The room was clean, had an elevator, was non‑smoking, and was close enough to Yorktown for our day plans. There was no fancy décor—just one picture, no elaborate bedspreads, and no breakfast—but it met the needs for a short stay (clean, good location, handicap access). It was located behind a Walgreens and poorly sign‑posted, so we passed it even with GPS.

“Do. Not. Book. Here.”

I was grateful for the helpful guy who assisted me at check‑in, but the rest of the staff were rude, housekeeping was nonexistent, and I had to bring my own towels to the front desk to swap for clean ones. The place was full of riff‑raff who set off the fire alarm at 2 am, blasted loud music, and had a rowdy fight with an insane number of f‑boms. Upstairs neighbors stomped around during the night, and the room layout I booked was not what I received. The so‑called “fitness center” was a joke, and the room lacked basic weekly‑stay items like pots, pans, a coffee pot, silverware, plates, and even a cup. When I returned to my room that night after leaving my trash by the door, I found it had been opened and the trash was dumped inside. I’d advise everyone to read the Yelp reviews before booking.
