I was really disappointed. I've stayed at about ten ryokans in Japan, and this was the worst, even though we paid 550 €/night. The check‑in was slow and the staff didn't help with our luggage. The food was just okay; at 550 €/night it should have been much better, otherwise 350 €/night would have been acceptable. The staff were all very young and poorly trained. The rooms were comfortable and the spring water was great, but the onsen tub was a wooden crate and left a lot to be desired. They even put a wooden barrier over the onsen, blocking the pretty view. It felt more like a budget ryokan than a luxury place. I couldn't relax as I had hoped and left more agitated and frustrated. They didn't help with bags at all—you had to carry everything to and from your room. The staff were horrible and shameful.

The facilities inside were very clean and had a pleasant atmosphere. It is a bit removed from the city centre, though that also gives it a nice hidden‑away feel.

Taking the small cable car to the hotel was a unique experience, and the room was kept tidy.
