Hotel Giardinetto Venezia offers Venice Lagoon views, located on the promenade in Venice-Lido. The hotel is steps from the port with direct boat connections to Venice centre and 700 metres from sandy beaches. Rooms feature parquet floors, minibar, flat-screen TV, and air conditioning. A daily sweet breakfast buffet is served in a dedicated area, with free WiFi throughout.

I had stayed in Venice before, but we chose this hotel mainly for four reasons: price, good reviews, proximity to the vaporetto, and air conditioning because it was very hot in northern Italy when we booked. We had two rooms: a spacious double and a slightly smaller single, which was fine for one person. There’s a small outdoor area, very nice staff, many restaurants nearby, and a grocery store within walking distance. Overall, a very good option for the price. Note that there are stairs to the rooms. Nothing else worth mentioning.

The spot was spot on, just a stone's throw from the Lido vaporetto stop, and it was a relief to be able to stash our backpacks in the hotel after check‑out even though there isn’t a dedicated secure storage. The air conditioning in our room was completely dead, and we got there late at night during a heatwave with temperatures around 34°C, but no one was at reception to help. Flipping the window didn’t cool anything, so we had to sleep on a wet sheet to survive the heat. The next morning’s response was even worse: instead of an apology, the staff basically asked if we were sure there was a problem, saying “It is green, meaning it works” and “Did you try opening the window?” After a night like that, that attitude was especially disappointing. Breakfast staff were also rude, and overall the lack of helpfulness and basic courtesy made the stay feel even worse than the AC issue. Plus, there’s nobody at reception after 1 pm, which can be a real problem if something goes wrong later in the day.

The location was superb with a lovely view, and the staff were very nice, but the air conditioning barely cooled until it was fixed on the day we left.
