Guest House Oumi

I was driving from a volunteer in Kumamoto to Yamagata and, after getting exhausted around 7 pm, decided to stay in Kyoto at this guest house. The staff were friendly, the stay was cheap, the nearby parking was only 220 yen for late‑night rates, and the facilities were clean. The atmosphere around Taisho Higashidori was authentically Kyoto and good. At just after 1 am my left finger was itchy, I woke once, fell back asleep, and then woke again after 3 am when I heard a single mosquito buzz. At that moment I remembered that the highway night‑time discount applies if you enter before 4 am, so I got up, stopped at a local stand for fuel, and entered the highway a little before 4 am, turning a small mishap into a blessing. 😅

The value for money is very high, but before checking in you need to adjust your mindset, learn that Japanese people don’t want to inconvenience others, and then your stay will be very pleasant; if you still insist on doing things your own way, this place isn’t for you.

The price was good and the toast tasted great. Parking was available and there were no issues. Since it was my first time at a guest house, it turned out to be a nice experience. No other remarks.
