“Bon rapport qualité prix”

The place is less than 10 minutes from the historic centre, and getting the keys was easy. The bedding on the upper bed was bad, one of the steps at the bottom is dangerous and my 8‑year‑old daughter almost got hurt.

The location is special. Everything was fine.

“Вряд ли вернусь и другим жилье не порекомендую”

The apartment was clean, had tiny balconies and a terrace, and the neighbours were wonderful people, always ready to help and language barriers were not an issue. We did not expect the apartment to be as spacious as it looked in the photos, but in reality it is noticeably smaller. The bathroom on the second floor takes up a large portion of the already small room, has no water supply (you can’t even wash your hands without going downstairs) and could easily cause a serious injury. On the first floor there is a fold‑out bed that tends to collapse and bounce around while you sleep. The kitchen is minimalist – you can hardly cook anything. The tile around the single stove is cluttered and you can’t really boil or fry anything. The taps wobble side to side. I don’t want to talk about the toilet, but to use it you have to exert a lot of effort – the tank is painfully small. It’s obviously cheap accommodation for a night or two. But an incident left us with the worst memories. On the day we arrived, several neighbourhoods in Catania had a water outage. We wouldn’t have complained to the owners – it was a municipal emergency. Later we found out that the authorities had warned about the outage 8 days before our arrival: everyone knew there would be no water. We could have been offered to cancel the booking – living two days without running water is impossible. But no: the cancellation was only offered late that evening, when finding another place was pointless. The problem could have been solved another way: we could have brought 2‑3 20‑liter bottles. But no. Fortunately, water was restored the next morning. We hoped that, as compensation for the inconvenience, they would at least let us leave our luggage for a few hours. The following guests were not disturbed – they moved in much later. We were refused. In short, we were very dissatisfied.

The only good thing is the location, but the area where the apartment sits is not good. The apartment is very small, has no windows, and feels stuffy. The stairs leading to the upper “room” are very dangerous and broken; I can’t believe they couldn’t fix a couple of planks. We didn’t have cockroaches, but we did have ants. It’s close to the city centre but on a very dirty, suspicious street. Next to the apartment is another unit separated by a wall that seems to be made of paper because everything sounds as if we all live together.

The breakfast came with packed sweet snacks. The area felt unsafe and the apartment interior wasn’t very clean. During one night there was no water, and the hot water boiler was shared with neighbors, so we lost access to water later and no one supplied a reserve. The cleaning lady arrived early on the day of departure at 10.30 and told us to leave, even though we had agreed with the host that we would leave at 11.
