“Wonderful experience for 2 bikers "lost in France".”
We had to book on a whim after an 8‑hour bike ride through rain‑soaked France, and the place was supposedly closed because the owners were in the hospital, yet the reservation still went through. When we arrived at Laurence’s door, she welcomed us warmly and quickly set up a room for the night. My friend and I ended up having one of the best evenings, thanks to a lovely dinner shared with the host. I realized we only had one double room for two bikers, so Laurence improvised another room for one of us and everything worked out. I’d advise future guests to book as a single or a couple, because that’s how it’s usually set up. Breakfast was another highlight and left us satisfied. We left a generous tip for the fantastic hosting, wine, and food, and I wholeheartedly recommend Maison 1838 if Laurence ever reopens the room.
