I appreciated the attention to detail, superb accommodation, and friendly staff. Afternoon tea was lovely, the food was great, and we ate pizza and pork belly outside. We played games in the bar and enjoyed the amazing views and the lodge lights at night. The only drawbacks were the busy road and the high cost.

The hotel sits in a great spot and the traditional decor gives it a lot of charm, plus the staff were friendly. The dinner menu offered variety, though it leaned heavily on curry, and the breakfast was excellent with a good range of non‑alcoholic drinks. The bed, however, was very uncomfortable due to the spring mattress and it felt like a waste to pay over £300 a night. Dinner service was chaotic and the kitchen didn’t accommodate dietary requests well; when I asked for ice cream because the cream had alcohol, the chef refused, but once we decided not to have pudding the request became possible. Food was pricey—£80 for two mains, one dessert, and two drinks—and the room felt basic for the cost. There was no warning that dinner or breakfast had to be booked in advance; we were first told there was no room until 8 pm, then a table appeared at 7 pm after we inquired.

I loved how peaceful the location was, it was small and quaint. The bedroom was the only thing that bothered me. I got room 1 and expected a view, but it faced the street. It almost looked like a former storage room turned into a handicap‑accessible room. The room itself was cute and cozy, but the location was off.

The food was good, the room was nice, and the staff were very attentive. Dinner was lovely, the sauna was a highlight, and afternoon tea was pleasant. I’m not entirely convinced the price was worth it; for about £400 a night I expected cleaner rooms and bathrooms and complimentary access to the sauna or spa.
