I didn’t feel surprised by the hotel because I had seen photos and read reviews; it’s a well‑maintained place, though still very PRL‑style, and after a solid renovation it could be a real gem. I only slept there and spent the rest of the day exploring the castle and town. The room was clean and matched the description and pictures, and the bathroom was mostly fine, but there was an unpleasant odor in the bathroom that turned out to be from the nearby river/ canal, as the same smell was present at the castle and by the river. A big plus was the very friendly staff, the proximity to a park, and the quiet. The price matched the conditions. However, if you’re after luxury, this isn’t the place. I would have liked the kettle to be descaled – it was heavily limescale‑covered (I didn’t use it). Only two glasses and a single spoon were provided! I would have preferred a more thorough cleaning of the bathroom – not just surface level (there are also so‑called corners) and I would have wiped the tiles – old stains are visible. The TV remote was also heavily dusty. These are just tweaks to improve comfort for future guests.
