The setting is beautiful and very peaceful, just 10–15 minutes from the motorway. We stayed while visiting the RHS show. It’s not obvious when you arrive whether the gate is closed or where the reception is, but many people were around to help. The rooms are lovely, and our bathroom was gorgeous with plenty of hot water. There’s a small sitting room that we used one evening while visiting family. Breakfast is ordered on arrival, and the lady who serves it is incredibly lovely. The food is great with plenty of choices. A few minutes’ walk brings you to the local pub – 1903 – which we struggled to reach because they had just changed hands, but it’s worth the effort. The menu is fantastic, with excellent food and service. For another night we sought local options and drove 15 minutes to an Italian place; the staff there were all very friendly and welcoming.

Breakfast was perfect and Judy’s service was second to none. Lisa, the reception manager, was also excellent. The room was extremely comfortable and the bed heavenly. Thank you for the most wonderful stay. Nothing.

I liked the comfy room and the nice decor, and the breakfast was good, but the flashing red light from the smoke detector kept me up all night and there were no signs to help me find the hotel.
