“Great area, beautiful traditional stay.”

The property is beautiful and staying there was a great experience. The location is great and you can walk to Gion in about 30 minutes and visit many temples. It’s a quiet area to retreat to. I loved the pajamas set out and the laundry facilities. They also helped us forward our luggage, which was great. The staff weren’t really at the desk; no one was really there during our stay, but they responded over email. We had to pay a late check‑in charge, and if you check in during normal hours you must collect the keys from Kyoto station.

The check‑in process is strange and done off‑site, which would be annoying for someone like Antony traveling from the airport, but it’s right next to the station. The place doesn’t look like the pictures and there is no staff on site, which is worrying for security.

The spot is spot-on, rooms feel lovely, and the facilities match exactly what I needed; the staff were super helpful and the keycode entry was a breeze. I even had a washing machine that fit perfectly into my travel schedule. Everything was flawless. 👍🏼

The concept worked well; it’s aimed at foreigners who want to sleep on tatami and futon, but it’s clean enough for Japanese guests too. The amenities are solid, and for a property of this size they’ve paid attention to detail, so overall value is good. The biggest perk is the free service that picks up luggage at Kyoto Station and delivers it to the room, making sightseeing smooth—this system is great. The downside is the distance from the station and the lack of nearby restaurants or convenience stores, which is honestly inconvenient, so maybe that’s why it’s so quiet and comfortable.
