“Don't miss this wonderful family business!”

What a special, wonderful gem hidden at the border at the Corcovado National Park. If you are here a visit at the NP is not necessary. The family who runs the business is the most kind we've met in Costa Rica. Nothing was too much to ask and we had very delicious breakfasts and dinners. The whole stay was custom made. It felt like a home we didn't want to leave. The bedrooms have good nets at the window. You will fall asleep with every sound of nature, so relaxing. Because of that you don't need much luxury. We did a night‑tour with Brayan, and it was awesome! Next level and maybe the best tour we had through our whole stay. He has a sharp eye and his determination is beyond borders. The birding at the lodge was amazing with every day a new surprise.

The place sits right in the middle of nature, and even on the grounds you sometimes spot monkeys, snakes, frogs, and a lot of birds. The hosts are very warm and try hard to make sure you have a pleasant stay and can find the animals you want to see. The food was good, the pillows comfortable and the fan quietly pleasant. We actually saw a ton of amazing wildlife (all kinds of monkeys, anteaters, kinkajous, poison dart frogs, potoos, hummingbirds, humpback whales…) – thanks in part to the great guides from the lodge itself. The power sometimes went out, you couldn’t pay by card (the nearest town only has a bank ATM that usually only accepts Colones) and the booked tours can only be done with your own car – we had to drive ourselves and the guide to the national park. Also the access road is really bad and you have to allow extra time to get to the lodge and back. The value for money is good and the stay is worth it if you’re coming for nature.

“Onvergetelijk! Wat een plek en wat een mensen. Heel fijn!”

The spot at the “end of the world” impressed me with its gorgeous setting, beautiful garden and Rosa’s incredibly tasty meals—local, fresh and homemade bread. Carlos proved a superb guide, spotting every bird and animal with his eagle eye, never turning anything down; breakfast at 5 am and dinner at 19 o’clock were both possible. The family running the place, including their son Bryan, clearly has their hearts in the right place, so I’d book straight away. We couldn’t think of any downside.

Peace and isolation in a natural plain. The kindness of Rocias and Brian and their helpfulness. Rocias’ meal was excellent as was his breakfast. The power outage was handled very well by the host.

The hosts were warm and friendly, always ready to chat and offer tips, and breakfast was abundant and varied, served in an open room overlooking the forest with birds and butterflies fluttering about; being so close to the vegetation was truly pleasant. The only drawback was that only cold water was available, and reaching the site required a 9 km track that takes about 40 minutes, best tackled with a high‑clearance vehicle.
