The location and staff availability were good, and I appreciated the effort to provide gluten‑free breakfast with Schar biscuits, but the room I stayed in was near an intersection and I could hear motorised vehicles from early morning all day long.

I was very disappointed not to be greeted – the website’s presentation of the hotel didn’t match reality, so I saw no one at the front desk and had a lot of trouble with the codes (I’m 78, sorry!) and hadn’t mentioned my difficulty with the 40 steps; the proximity to the castle eased my disappointment a bit. The shower edges were in bad condition with grooves that could be cleaned with the right products.

The hotel is in a nice spot; we brought our dog and could walk him to the park behind the castle garden, which was just around the corner, and we also strolled into town, so it was very central. The staff were very kind. I found the place okay – it might be a bit dated, but we had a good stay.

Breakfast was fine and the bathroom essentials were there, but the room was small and the fixtures were old, including the bathroom door, carpets, floors, and stairs.
