Lope Homestay was perfect! The location was great, the room was clean and had everything I needed. I rented a bike to get around, which was cheaper than any local bike rentals. The owner’s son (I didn’t catch his name) was great, helped me sort out a few things, and gave excellent recommendations for my stay in Sumba. 10/10; I’ll be back one day.

The bedding was good, the room size was fine, scooter rental was handy, the setting was peaceful, and the staff were kind. However, there was no breakfast, so you have to head into town (3 km away) or to Indomaret (500 m) for coffee, which opens at 8 am or 9 am. You really need a scooter to get around.

The location was great, and Gilang, the young tour guide, spoke good English and knew the island well. Nothing else to note.
