There was no breakfast, no restaurant, no bar, and the village’s restaurant was closed for dinner— the site needs updating. The garden, the house, and the antiques were fine, but the comments about them should be swapped.

The host was very warm and welcoming, and Philadelphia is a lovely little town. The bed had an electric blanket that helped with the cold, and after the wedding we returned to find a fire going to warm the house. The room we stayed in had very little natural light, so it was quite dark. Only one side of the electric blanket worked, but the host added hot water bottles for us that evening, which was very thoughtful. The stay didn’t include breakfast, but THE PEPPER TREE is within walking distance and offers a great little menu with wonderful staff.

The owner is a fascinating guy who made our stay very enjoyable. Nothing was too much to do for us. It was great!

The uniqueness and the calm energy were outstanding.

The decor is interesting and unique - really amazing pieces and spaces. De Dapper Huys felt run-down and neglected. Where plaster has stripped from the walls (which could provide aesthetic value), the debris is still on the ground where it fell. The room doors don't lock (no privacy). Bathroom doors barely close. Some lights work, others don't. The place did not live up to its great potential
