The place was clean and perfect for a one-night stay, and the location is great.

The hotel’s décor is gorgeous and the bar and restaurant are both very pleasant with courteous service. However, the portable air‑conditioner in our room was placed between the wall and the bed, rendering it useless; they did move it later but it still wasn’t satisfactory for a hotel of this standard. There is no lift, so we had to haul luggage up two flights of stairs, even though only one person helped with a single suitcase while the three of us were carrying bags.

The hotel is really cute, centrally located and clean. It has a Starbucks station, and water is available 24 hours on the second floor, which is very convenient. The Deluxe Kind room is small, with only one window, and there’s no traditional air‑conditioning. Cleaning happens every other day, and the Wi‑Fi is slow.

“It was Great!”

The location was perfect, within walking distance of everything in Downtown—public transport, Petco Ballpark, Margaritaville where our 5k/10k was, and great food. I also liked the building’s history; it used to house international students so the ceilings were super high, and the bar/restaurant was once a speakeasy, still retaining that vibe. It was unusually hot in San Diego and, although there was an in‑room air‑con, our room stayed on the warm side.
