The place was clean, but the bathroom fixtures felt old and the shower was unreliable – the water would start hot before you could set the temperature.

You can enjoy peace and beautiful views, and the shops are only about 2.5 km away, so long walks are pleasant. However, the floor of the tent needs to be restored because the wood is worn and could eventually give way.

The tent was well furnished and easy to reach by bike or car, and it sat nicely in a shaded spot among trees. The only downside was that the Kettcars could have been better maintained.

The tent was great – large and fully equipped – and a perfect base for exploring northern Netherlands. The listing omitted extra fees for bedding in the tent (a small charge), hot water in the shared bathroom, and hot water for dishwashing – 50 cents per shower and 20 cents for dishwater. That info would have been helpful. Bring earplugs; it’s a village with night‑time farm work and early‑morning noise.
