Woodland Hideaway in Sinharaja

“A true hideaway. Wonderful”

The couple running this hideaway are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and both breakfast and dinner were wonderful. The place is rural, perched on a hill side, humid, and wild monkeys roam close by; nothing feels completely dry. There’s no air‑con, no fan, and no warm water, but that’s part of the charm. The only downside is the roughly 100 uneven steps leading up to the property, which is very basic—just a heads‑up for future guests. Despite that, it feels like a true hideaway, and we’ll definitely return.

The location is stunning, with an amazing natural soundscape and a view of the Sinharaja rainforest. Chanaka is kind, caring, and communicative, taking me on a fantastic rainforest tour where he showed me many species I’d never seen before, including a waterfall for swimming. He’s a great teacher on rainforest wildlife. Breakfast came with huge portions of Sri Lankan food, and dinner was equally delicious.

We stayed for just one night and fell in love with the place. The morning view is absolutely beautiful, the environment is full of birds, and the room is spotless and well equipped. Mr. Chanaka served us wonderfully and shared a lot of knowledge. I recommend this spot 100% to travelers worldwide—come enjoy Sri Lankan wildlife and hospitality.

“Luckily found this resort, everything good.”

As a solo traveler to Sinharaja forest, I felt the warmth and friendliness of the Chanaka brothers. Before arrival, they began taking care of me; his brother picked me up from the Langkagama bus station for free and made hot tea when I arrived at night, which was very comforting. I could order dinner from him, and the food was delicious. Chanaka is a very experienced guide with excellent eyesight, constantly finding animals for me and explaining them patiently, even pointing until I saw them. The conversation with him was very relaxed. I wanted to spend a whole day trekking in Sinharaja, but my schedule was tight since I arrived on the second‑last day in Sri Lanka. Overall, I recommend this resort to solo travelers or pairs; you’ll get an experienced guide and excellent care. The resort sits uphill, so you have to climb a bit to get there, and it was quite dark at night, so be careful—just a note, not a big issue.

“A woodland Hideaway experience”

I had a wonderful stay at Woodland Sinharaja Inn. The location is ideal for exploring the beautiful Sinharaja Rainforest, surrounded by peaceful nature and greenery. The hospitality from Chanaka and his lovely family was excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The food was a highlight—everything was fresh, delicious, homemade, and full of authentic Sri Lankan flavors. I especially liked the homemade‑style meals, perfect after a day in the rainforest. The peaceful atmosphere made it a great place to relax and enjoy nature, and I would definitely recommend Woodland Sinharaja Inn to anyone visiting Sinharaja.
