It was our second visit to Medinaceli, the first at this hotel. Finding it was a bit harder than I expected, but the town is tiny so the search was short and we parked just outside. Reception was efficient and the room was fine, though rather small. The window wouldn’t close, even for the receptionist, so we were moved to an adjacent room that was actually larger, had a spa bath and was more expensive, yet we weren’t charged extra. The outdoor area looked nice but the weather didn’t allow us to use it. We were in Medinaceli on a Wednesday, which meant almost all local restaurants were closed – not LaS Retajas’ fault. Breakfast service was excellent. It was a good value stop‑over.

It felt like being at home. The hotel was very clean, breakfast was superb and served at a table, and the staff were very attentive. A candlelit concert in the square added a special touch to the weekend. Highly recommended.

The staff were friendly and the surroundings were peaceful, but I had to keep traveling afterward.
